overall appearance • Mathias is a somewhat short, but handsome young man with a lithe and agile build. He has skin that's on the pale side, with one a large scar on his left shoulder blade, that's almost always hidden from view. His complexion is extremely healthy, but his hands can tend to have patches of dry skin. He has frequently-manicured fingernails, that are often painted black. His hands and fingers are long and elegant, and quite dexterous. Mathias has a speedy and agile build. He's capable of quick, acrobatic feats. But he isn't quite physically strong. He doesn't have a lot of stamina and if he's caught by a stronger opponent, he can become heavily damaged. He has long, smooth legs, and is an incredibly fast runner. He's also an incredible endurance runner. He has pretty, black hair, often worn down long over his shoulders, or in a messy ponytail. He has elegant, pretty features, with deep azure eyes. He has an elegantly curved nose with soft, pink lips.

overall personality • Mathias is a haughty and uppity young man, who seems more like a popular, gossipy young man more than anything. He tends to gossip frequently and absolutely loves talking to people. He loves getting to know people, and socializing is his passion. He loves doing favors for people. He loves people, and that's that. He's fascinated by human nature and is actually quite knowledgeable about psychology and the human nature. Despite how ditzy he really seems, Mathias is incredibly cunning and intuitive. He can often recognize how others are feeling by analyzing tones and body language. He's generally good with people, but is also good at manipulating them. Mathias is someone who is pleasant and usually encourages others to do their best. He isn't a nasty young man, who would wrong someone just to do it.

Yet, he's incredibly self-loathing. He inwardly fears people leaving him, and believes that he's not good enough for others. He can slump into depression at times, and become reckless and make bad of otherwise unhealthy choices. He dislikes his own nature and feels as though he doesn't deserve friends. He feels as though people need to love and value him for him to be satisfied, or else he's worth nothing. He needs to be needed. He doesn't try to please others too much. He knows how to stand up for himself and refuses to let others push him around. But he can be needy for attention and he gets lonely painfully easily. He suffers a lot when he's alone. All he wants is friends that he can trust. But his trust issues tend to get in the way of that. Mathias is a kind and loving young man. He wants nothing but the best for humanity and the entire world. He's incredibly generous and is always giving to others, while he believes himself to be utterly rotten.

overall history • Mathias was born to two wealthy people. From a young age, he was swamped with work, as his parents were incredibly strict and determined to get him to succeed. His father was hard on him, but both of his parents loved him, even if they put too much pressure on him. During his early childhood, he was mostly alone because he was privately tutored, until his parents chose to put him into public schooling, to allow him to grow socially. An optimistic child, Mathias easily became popular with others. Although, his first group of friends considered him overbearing and annoying, so they distanced themselves from him. After that, often he would allow others to push him around, and he would be a clingy friend. Nonetheless, he did well in school and teachers tended to like him very much.

Many groups of friends would abandon him, until he was completely alone. Often, his parents threw extravagant parties in their home, inviting business allies and other family members. However, during one of these parties, there was an ambush and both of his parents were assassinated. He managed to escape, and the perpetrators were arrested. But he was absolutely traumatized, only at age ten when the tragedy occurred. He was sent to live with a distant relative in Nevada. His aunt Gale, who he was sent to live with, enrolled him in public school, as well as having him taught in self-defense. After the move, Mathias seemed to change and evolve as an individual. The clingy, naive young child that had existed for so long was wiped away, leaving a new persona. Mathias changed almost everything about himself.

In his new school, he was incredibly popular. He refused to join any sports teams, but he was never made fun of by the athletes after he fought and severely injured one of them. After that, they left him alone. He went through middle and high school with high success, making his aunt Gale incredibly proud of him. Although she was stern with him, she was his second mother figure, and the two had a positive relationship. Yet, she contracted a severe illness when he turned sixteen, causing her to rush her plans with him. She revealed to him the existence of the DWMA, and urged him to go there after she died, leaving all of her funds to him. She had been apart of an incredible meister and weapon duo, although she had retired after the death of her weapon partner. Eventually, Aunt Gale passed on, leaving Mathias to travel to the DWMA.
